Pismo Beach, California
Located on the coast at approximately the midway point in San Luis Obispo County, the classic beach town of Pismo Beach is situated on California’s Central Coast about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, along Pacific Coast and 101 Highways.
According to Wikipedia: “The name Pismo comes from the Chumash language word for tar – Pismu – which was gathered from tar springs in Price Canyon near Pismo Beach.” The Chumash Indians used the tar to caulk their seagoing canoes, in which they traveled along the coast and out to the Channel Islands.
In Pismo Beach, there is always great weather to allow for a casual stroll along the extensive white sand beaches, or perhaps you would rather just enjoy one of the numerous spectacular views of Pismo Beach sunsets. Of course, if you prefer the more active aspects of your time in the area, you could play golf on one of the many area courses, ride the dunes in an ATV, go horseback riding, surfing or… maybe you would prefer to relax and try the fishing from the 1200-foot long pier.
There is also plenty of shopping available at the Pismo Beach Premium Outlets and dining opportunities at numerous, excellent restaurants. Whether on vacation or just stopping by for a short visit, all of this – and much, much more – awaits you in Pismo Beach!
